The Certificate in International Trade provides practical knowledge and skills training to professionals working in international trade or supply chain management and operations. The course equips professionals with the knowledge and skills they need to understand the key issues affecting the international trade industry, and to meet the challenges the industry faces in a post-Brexit trading environment.

The Programme consists of 6 modules with 6 interactive training days delivered by expert trainers with decades of experience in international trade, supply chain management and sustainable business.

  • Outline the processes for completing customs declarations for the import and export of a range of product types

The Sustainable Procurement CPD module provides 1 CPD hour for IST members.

The course covers the following topics

  • An overview of sustainable or ‘green’ procurement and the key steps organisations need to take to ensure their procurement practices are sustainable and ethical.
  •  An overview of the Smart Freight Centre (SFC) / World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) Freight Procurement Guidelines and the key implementation steps for sustainable procurement strategies including preparation, planning, tendering, contracting, managing and reporting.
  • How to engage buyers, suppliers and other supply chain partners in sustainable energy and carbon reduction programmes and how to ensure supply chain partners are providing accurate and complete data.

The International Trade Fundamentals core module is for those seeking Certified IST Membership. 

The course consists of e-learning videos, a self-study e-booklet and an end of module exam. 

The covers the following topics: 

  • The key concepts of international trade
  • The principal regulatory bodies in international trade and their key rules and regulations
  • The role of customs compliance in the import and export of goods across borders
  • The key rules and regulations of the Union Customs Code and the main EU IT systems for customs compliance
